Ladyswell Utd (C) 2 v 2 AIB Fc
-
A rainy Damastown seen AIB Fc come to town against Ladyswell's newest senior team who played the first competitive home game of the season. The away side started the brighter of the two sides creating the early chances and testing the Ladyswell back four on a number of occasions.
-
Lasdyswell's goalkeeper Gareth Murphy was called into action when he made a good save early on to deny the away side who should of taken the lead. The home side took a while to settle but 15 minutes in Ladyswell created their first chance after a long clearance found Peter Flynn who had got in behind the AIB back four and still had a lot to do as he took the ball around the keeper and dispatched with a cheeky chip into the AIB net.
-
The home side from that point on seemed happy with the one nil lead and sat back as the away side began to pin them back. AIB pushed on and again should have been rewarded for their good play after hitting the crossbar on three occasions. The home side shortly woke up and began to get amongst the away side as a midfield battle ensued for the remainder of the half with AIB carving out the majority of the chances.
-
The Ladyswell manager was unhappy at half time and the home side began the second half the brighter as the ball on the ground began to cause the AIB some trouble and it was Jamie Martin who almost extended the lead when he sprung the offside trap but just could not find the net.
-
Ladyswell continued the push and after a decent ball by Tomac found Johnny Curran all alone but Curran could not finish despite his best effort. AIB began to get nervy and continued to push forward but like the first half a midfield battle ensued which seen the game broken by free kicks and offsides.
-
It was AIB who caused a stir when the away side levelled after a bit of a skirmish in the Ladyswell box. Ladyswell continued to do the right things and pushed on with Peter Flynn and Johnny Curran creating chances in the AIB Box only to be denied by the goalkeeper. Ladyswell kept pushing forward and when Curran touched on the ball past the keeper he totally missed the ball and gave away a penalty which was duly dispatched by Flynn for his second of the day.
-
Ladyswell once again slink'ed back into the routine of defending and AIB continued to push forward looking for the equalizer and with five minutes to go some hesitant defending AIB took their opportunity and levelled the game up. With no time left in the game Ladyswell could not find the third goal to take all three points.
