No clean Sheet Bonus but Three Points will do

Ladyswell (Sun) 3 v 2 Cabra Celtic

-

Ladyswell welcomed Cabra Celtic to Damastown for there first league meeting of the season the two sides have had a number of good battles over the last two years and Cabra Celtic had been part of the wonderfull Jubilee cup which seen them have a joint top scorer in the tournament.

-

It was obvious from the begining that both sides had huge respect for one another and Cabra almost took an early lead after a long ball over the top was knocked on and a back tracking Moloney pushed it wide to keep it all level.

-

The home side soon woke up and after some amazing football through the middle the wide man Sam Nevin scored what could be described as a wonder goal to give Ladyswell a 1 v o lead. Ladyswell began to grow in confidence as the ball was pinged from left to right. Cabra found it hard to get to grips with the movement of Stephen Hand and Sam Nevin on the right. Right back John Walsh was also causing major issues. It was again Walsh's vision that found Sam Nevin space down the right and Nevin cut inside to strike a wonderful shot across the keeper into the Cabra net.

-

Ladyswell seemed to settle for this and were sitting back slightly, Cabra were begining to get a foothold in the game and were awarded a penalty for a challenge which looked outside the box but was a maximum of a free kick. The Cabra striker stepped up and smashed the ball against the crossbar but the follow up seen Moloney conceed the first goal of the season with a strike into the bottom corner.

-

Martin White who was in the team for his first start of the season should of made it three but was once again denied by the Cabra goalkeeper. Ladyswell once again restored there two goal lead after White found Moran in space and a little dink over the keeper made it 3 v 1.

-

Cabra who arrived in the new gold and black jerseys were not to be dnied and the big side found their second with a wonderful header down into the bottom corner but a finger tip save from Moloney but it was just not enough to keep the effort out.

-

The second half seen Ladyswell and Cabra both struggle to get the game flowing with a number of changes and fouls breaking up the game but it was the home side who had the better of the chances with Mark O'Donnell, Oisin Doyle and Graham O'Kelly going close on a number of occasions. Cabra also had a number of chance the majority of which came in the form of set pieces but the home side had learned from the early chances that they had conceeded.

-

Ladyswell seen Stephen Hand taken off by manager Michael Wilders as the young lad had been feeling some hard tackles as he continued his mazzy runs down the Cabra right. Ladyswell continued to work hard and once again Ladyswell's back four were once again sweeping up and on a number of occasions Mark Pearce morrauded forward and almost created a fourth when he found Sam Nevin wide on the right Nevin seen hat trick light up but was denied by the Cabra goalkeeper. Ladyswell's righ back John Walsh also made a number of runs which caused Cabra problems and he almost found Doyle from a pullback late on which was well cut out by the centre half.

-

A work man like performance from Ladyswell who continue on their winning strike against a tough hard working team in Cabra.

The Bank Breaks The Camals Back

AIB 1 v 0 Ladyswell (C)
-
Ladyswell C who had recently played a decent 2 v 2 draw against AIB in Damastown, so manager Kevin Caulfield was surprised to see his side playing AIB again. Ladyswell C have had a point to prove in recent weeks as they are finding it difficult in their first season in the Leinster Football League and are yet to pick up their first win.
-
Ladyswell started brightly in a damp DCU sports ground and had the home side on the back foot. Manager Caulfield felt the side should have been 1 up late on in the first half but admitted a draw may have been a fair result but it was the Bankers who once again hit the tax payers for one more late on with the winning goal in the 86th minute. Leaving very little time for the away side to get back into the game.

Unlucky Saturday as Ladyswell B find it hard to get off the Mark

Ladyswell Utd (B) 0 v 2 FC Hibernian
-
Ladyswell B returned back to action this week in Damastown after a weekend off last week. Manager Mick Loftus had been forced into a number of changes from the previous game against Smithfield. The Ladyswell side looked to start brightly on a cold Saturday afternoon.
-
It was the away side Hibernian dressed in all White who started the brighter and they thought they had scored early on only to be denied by a fabulous save by Robert Simpson who continued in the same vain of his Smithfield performance where he won man of the match award. Simpson was soon called into action again but this time seen him tip the ball easily over the crossbar.
-
The early pressure woke up Ladyswell and Alan King drove a low shot wide of the Hibernian goal to remind the away side Ladyswell were a danger. It was almost 1 v 0 to the home side when the returning Shane Smith found King in space but the keeper saved well. Once again Keith Clarke on the left hand side was causing problems and had a couple of opportunities to put the home side ahead.
-
Fc Hibernian had been taken slightly out of the game by Ladyswell who had begun to control the game, Hibernian once again proved they were dangerous and thought they had taken the lead but a push on centre half Stephen Keenan was given. FC Hibernian soon took the lead when they beat Robert Simpson in the Ladyswell goal but Simpson was very unlucky to concede as once again he was in good form.
-
Ladyswell started the second half very brightly and looked the better side but Hibernian once again had tested Simpson on three occasions only to be denied by some top class goalkeeping. Ladyswell should of been on level terms when Michael Nolan had the best chance of the game only to hit the Hibernian goalkeeper straight in the chest.
-
Ladyswell came more into the ascend ency after a great period which seen them reduced to ten men for a second bookable offence. It was all Ladyswell and Keith Clarke and Paul O'Rielly were playing really well and had caused considerable trouble but the equaliser just would not come.
-
Ladyswell manager Mick Loftus made a swift change with 15 minutes to go with a young fresh lad in Stephen Dempsey come on in place of the elder statesman Paul Hughes. Dempsey almost had the deserved effect when he skipped by two lads and almost played through a perfect ball to the advancing Keith Clarke who had switched to the right side but Clarke was closed down very quickly.
-
Ladyswell continued to push forward and showed some brilliant spirit but the away side took a 2 v 0 lead after a well placed free kick evaded Simpson who just could not get across. Ladyswell continued to push forward but just could not find a deserved goal. A wonderful performance by the home side and some brilliant spirit hopefully this will spur them on to get the victory they deserve.

U 19's Still in Good Spirit Despite Defeat

St Columbans YFC 4 v 2 Ladyswell U19
-
Dermot Ennis and Keith Clarkes under 19’s have found the beginning of the league daunting but their sides performances has proven that there is talent coming through from behind the senior teams. Despite falling to a 4 v 2 defeat in their recent match against St Columbans Ladyswell can take an enormous amount of positives from the game.
-
Ryan Keogh has been in superb form during the pre-season and added another two goals to his tally at the weekend and Ennis’ side also proved that although they have only come together in late July that they will be a force in the league this season.
-
Ladyswell Under 19’s will be in the spot light as they take on Dynamo Dublin (Sunday Division 1) in the Phoenix Park on Sunday (11am) in the Dalton Cup First round. Dynamo travelled to Damastown on the opening day and were defeated 3 v 0 by the Sunday side.

A Naas Day as Ladyswell Keep It Clean

Sarto Celtic 0 v 0 Ladyswell

-

Ladyswell made the long trip to Sarto Park for an unusual 3pm kick off, Ladyswell would travel without the two Doyle brothers but would still bring a 20 man squad. Manager Michael Wilders once again would have some difficult decisions to make on his starting eleven.

-

The home side settled quickly and although Ladyswell started brightly as well the first opportunity was created by the home side but the effort was well wide of the Ladyswell goal. The away side pushed forward and after good passing by Samuel Nevin, John Walsh and Mark Pearce Ladyswell whipped in a good ball only for David Farrell just heading wide.

-

David Moran in the Ladyswell goal was kept very quiet but had to make a good save mid way through the first half. The game was played mainly in the middle of the park with both sides were fighting for every inch. Ladyswell should of been one nil up when Graham O'Kelly played a wonderful ball through to David Farrell and a superb strike hit the crossbar and crossed the line but the referee did not give the goal.

-

Sarto also continued to push forward but a resolute Ladyswell defence cleared their lines on a number of occasions. Ladyswell manager Michael Wilders felt his team should of had a penalty late on in the first half when Stephen Hand went on another one of his mazzy runs down the left the Sarto defence had two kicks but on both occasions Hand was just to honest and stayed on his feet.

-

The second half started the quite hard and the challenges from both sides were flying in and Ladyswell were shortly after reduced to 10 men. Ladyswell continued to play football the way they do but also defended resolutely. Sarto continued to push forward but Ladyswell continued to set the two banks of four which made it difficult and the home side were reduced to long shots.

-

Ladyswell late on should of taken all three points when substitute Gary Nolan found himself in space but the Sarto goalkeeper got across to deny the opportunity. Just before the final whistle Ladyswell gave away a free kick but the Sarto striker blazed the ball over the bar.

-

Ladyswell continue on their clean sheet and have now gone 270 minutes without conceding and they have now also taken seven points out of nine available.

Ladyswell 0 v 5 Inchicore Rangers

Inchicore Rangers who had put 4 past Ladyswell B in Brickfields last weekend came to Damastown to take on Ladyswell C in there own back Yard. Ladyswell would start brightly and almost took the the lead as Peter Flynn broke clear but was denied by the advancing goalkeeper.
-
Ladyswell were in high spirits despite heading into the break 1 v 0 down, in the second half the physicality of Inchicore showed and Ladyswell became disjointed with two players seeing yellow. The away side continued to take advantage of the disjointed Ladyswell side who conceded another 4 after the break.
-
Inchicore have now put 9 past the two Ladyswell sides home and away. Both Saturday sides will look forward to the next set of games and try put the games this weekend behind them.

Bad Day As Ladyswell Fall to Heavy Defeats

Smithfield 5 v 1 Ladyswell Utd
------------------Keith Clarke 24'
-
Ladyswell made the trip to the Phoenix park for their third game of the season after a draw and a loss so far this season. Smithfield had been involved in Ladyswells Jubilee cup and both clubs have a good relationship from the previous two seasons.
-
Ladyswell manager Mick Loftus found himself choosing from a depleted squad with injuries causing a problem Ladyswell would still be without long term injured player Colm Ennis, Kevin Cox and last seasons top scorer Shane Smith.
-
The game was almost put in serious doubt when what could only be described as hurricane conditions obscured the view of players and those on the lines. The referee was still adamant to play on and he was justified as the weather began to calm. It was the home side who started the brighter and should of been one to the good only to be denied by some top class goalkeeping by Robert Simpson.
-
Ladyswell were finding it very difficult to get started and once again Simpson in the Ladyswell goal was proving why he has become a hit at the club as he pulled off save after save from the home side who attacked in wave after wave. Ladyswell eventually got a foot hold in the game and looked dangerous for the first time going forward and it came from the right side as Cunningham and Hughes combined and Hughes was in space fired over the bar.
-
Ladyswell were beginning to get on top and it was through the hard work again by Cunningham who attacked down the right and whipped a ball in to force a good save from the keeper after O'Driscoll got on the end of it. It was the away side who took the lead soon after when Keith Clarke broke down the left cut inside and struck a superb shot with the outside of his right foot into the top corner, a real contender for goal of the season.
-
Ladyswell soon found themselves on the back foot again and were defending quite high, once again Simpson was quick off his line to deny Smithfield the opportunity to get back in the game but just before the half time break the home side were on level terms when a long ball from the keeper was knocked on and the advancing Simpson was well beaten by another classy goal.
-
Ladyswell manager Mick Loftus felt that the ball was coming back to quick and made a change up top taking off Alan king and putting on Ian Kenna. Once again Ladyswell did not start and were truly punished and found themselves 3 v 1 down in the blink of an eye. The away side just could not get going in the second half and opportunities were limited. Ladyswell imploded and were soon dispatched 5 v 1 although this scoreline was quite harsh on the Ladyswell goalkeeper who had been absolutely outstanding all day and had denied Smithfield on a number of occasions. Ladyswell finished the game with 10 men which seen the game then fizzle out.
-
Ladyswell Fc:
1. Robert Simpson - 2. John Cunningham - 3.Paul Hughes - 4.Stephen Keenan - 5.Dermot Ennis (Capt) - 6. Stephen Coates - 7. Keith Clarke - 8.Ciaran Ennis - 9. Alan King - 10.Noel O'Driscoll 11. Colm Moran

We understand that all player's and managers wish a game to go ahead but going forward we feel that this is the best decision for the club its players and management.
-
The club fully appreciate that this is not ideal but we would like to re-iterate that a dim view will be taken if any game is played without a league official present.

Sunday side keep it clean as Ladyswell make it Two in a row

Bosna Fc 0 v 1 Ladyswell Utd Fc (A)
Stephen Hand 23’
-
Ladyswell would travel to the Phoenix Park today for the first time this season to face another new addition to the Leinster football League in Bosna Fc . Ladyswell would be forced into a change of colour as Bosna would be wearing yellow and blue.
-
The wind swept Phoenix park would not aid either side with the wind sweeping across the pitch. It was the away side who started the better with David Farrell almost converting an early opportunity. Bosna seemed to settle a lot better and began to get the ball down and play from left to right.
-
Ladyswell took their time and settled quite well after the two teams had got the feel for one another and when Stephen Hand broke free down the left and twisted and turned three Bosna players and his strong intended pull back ended up in the net.
-
Shortly after Stephen Hand and David Farrell combined once again and an amazing shot was tipped onto the crossbar by the Bosna goalkeeper. The star of the show for Ladyswell was their goalkeeper who pulled off an amazing save after a questionably close offside was not giving. Ladyswell David Moran in goal had once again been called on but Moran was in no humour to lose his clean sheet record.
-
Just before half-time Ladyswell should have been two nil up when Moloney, Hand, Farrel and Nolan combined and Samual Nevin fizzed a ball just over the Bosna bar. Ladyswell would go in at half time both fortunate to be 1 v 0 up but also unlucky not to be further ahead.
-
The second half seen Lady swell a little bit on the back foot but after superb challenges by Declan Burke and Christopher Mc Entaggart was denying the home side from getting back in the game. Once again Ladyswells back four were under pressure and John Walsh once again as in the first half got himself in the right place to clear the ball off the line.
-
Once again the star of the show the second half was Ladyswell’s goalkeeper David Moran who was quicker then Usain Bolt off his line to close down the Bosna striker and made a great bloke with his chest a good distance outside his box.
-
Ladyswell’s Mark O’Donnell and Darren Donnelly were immense in the middle of the park and won almost every ball in the air despite being towered over by the home sides midfield. Going forward the away side gave as much as the got and should have been two nil to the good when Sam Nevin found substitute Oisin Doyle in space he flicked onto Farrell who was denied by the hand of the grateful keeper.
-
As the game was coming to a close Mick Wilders replaced a tired looking Moloney with Mark Pearce and also replaced an equally tired Mark O’Donnell with Graham O’Kelly. Mark Pearce was called into action straight away as the home side continued to push on for the equalizer but time was not on their side as Ladyswell held out for another three points and a well earned second clean sheet.
-
Ladyswell Utd Fc (A)
1.David Moran - 2.John Walsh - 3. Mark Moloney - 4.Christopher McEntaggart (Capt) - 5.Declan Burke - 6.Darren Donnelly - 7.Samual Nevin - 8.Mark O’Donnell - 9.Gary Nolan - 10.David Farrell - 11. Stephen Hand

Ladyswell travelled to Brickfields for their first away game of the season against a new member of the Leinster Football League. A depleted Ladyswell side would feel the pinch without Colm Moran, Colin Ennis, Shane Smith, Ian Kenna and Gerard Gannon.

Ladyswell C seal first point of New Campaign

Ladyswell Utd (C) 2 v 2 AIB Fc
-
A rainy Damastown seen AIB Fc come to town against Ladyswell's newest senior team who played the first competitive home game of the season. The away side started the brighter of the two sides creating the early chances and testing the Ladyswell back four on a number of occasions.
-
Lasdyswell's goalkeeper Gareth Murphy was called into action when he made a good save early on to deny the away side who should of taken the lead. The home side took a while to settle but 15 minutes in Ladyswell created their first chance after a long clearance found Peter Flynn who had got in behind the AIB back four and still had a lot to do as he took the ball around the keeper and dispatched with a cheeky chip into the AIB net.
-
The home side from that point on seemed happy with the one nil lead and sat back as the away side began to pin them back. AIB pushed on and again should have been rewarded for their good play after hitting the crossbar on three occasions. The home side shortly woke up and began to get amongst the away side as a midfield battle ensued for the remainder of the half with AIB carving out the majority of the chances.
-
The Ladyswell manager was unhappy at half time and the home side began the second half the brighter as the ball on the ground began to cause the AIB some trouble and it was Jamie Martin who almost extended the lead when he sprung the offside trap but just could not find the net.
-
Ladyswell continued the push and after a decent ball by Tomac found Johnny Curran all alone but Curran could not finish despite his best effort. AIB began to get nervy and continued to push forward but like the first half a midfield battle ensued which seen the game broken by free kicks and offsides.
-
It was AIB who caused a stir when the away side levelled after a bit of a skirmish in the Ladyswell box. Ladyswell continued to do the right things and pushed on with Peter Flynn and Johnny Curran creating chances in the AIB Box only to be denied by the goalkeeper. Ladyswell kept pushing forward and when Curran touched on the ball past the keeper he totally missed the ball and gave away a penalty which was duly dispatched by Flynn for his second of the day.
-
Ladyswell once again slink'ed back into the routine of defending and AIB continued to push forward looking for the equalizer and with five minutes to go some hesitant defending AIB took their opportunity and levelled the game up. With no time left in the game Ladyswell could not find the third goal to take all three points.
