Shamrock Celtic 0 v 1 Ladyswell Utd
Pierce Sloane 30 Mins

The Leinster Football League's new initiative of helping clubs develop took a new step when they brought in the new Under 19 division. Two of the ten clubs who will be part of this new division will faced off in a pre-season friendly in Coolock. Ladyswell's development squad who will be under the management of Saturday side Captain Dermot Ennis faced off against Shamrock Celtic a new addition to the Lfl family.
-
A strong eighteen lad squad travelled to Coolock for their first game together, Ladyswell started quite brightly with Stephen Dempsey in the middle of the field showing his strength and quick thinking by pinging the ball from left to right. The game was quite bright and both sides were not shy as the tackles were flying in from both sides.
-
It was the away side who created the first clear cut chance when Stephen Gibney lifted a ball over the top and found Ryan Keogh in space but Keogh just could not find the killer touch. It was Ladyswell who seemed in the ascendancy as they continued to push on and after a good free kick by Captain Leon Sweeney which found Ryan Keogh in space but Keogh just took the ball to wide and the chance could not be converted.
-
It was obvious Ladyswell were winning the Battle in the middle of the park and Sean Burke and Stephen Dempsey were a torn in the home sides side, Dempsey was lording it and almost gave Ladyswell the lead with a lovely dinked ball found Ryan Keogh in space but Keogh's cross could not be finished off by a Ladyswell head.
-
Ladyswell had started well but a real joy to watch was the understanding between right full Carl Halpin and Glen Keogh who were breaking down the home sides left for fun. Once again Halpin and Keogh combined and Keogh's strike off the outside of his boot sailed very close to the top corner but the wrong side of the crossbar.
-
Ladyswell did take the lead in the first half once again another superb ball by Dempsey found Pierce Sloane in space and the young lad made no mistake to give the away side the lead.
-
After the goal Ladyswell's back four were tested on a number occasions by the home side but between Carl Hannan who had a man of the match performance and Andrew Ward as well as Halpin and Sweeney, they were equal to the task and answered the question asked really well. When the home side got through goalkeeper John Reid make three good saves one of which left him with a nasty knock that seen him feeling a bit soar as half time approached.
-
At half time manager Dermot Ennis made a number of changes which seen Gavin Smullen, Ciaran Doyle, Jordan Nolan and also goalkeeper Aaron O'Brien come on. The second half started brightly again and Ladyswell again had the first chance and should of made it two nil when Ciaran Doyle went close.
