Ladyswell Sunday welcomed Dynamo Dublin to a wind swept Damastown as the league season got under way for the teams in the Sunday division. Ladyswell manager Michael Wilders had a selection problem on his hands as his squad of twenty plus players arrived up.
-
Ladyswell would play the first half against the wind which was quite strong. It was apparent that the home side were up for the game and started brightly as the ball was fizzed from right to left across the pitch. It was the home side who attacked first and Stephen Hand should of made it one nil only to be denied by the Dynamo Dublin keeper.
-
It was again the dynamo Dublin keeper who was called into action when a free kick from the edge of the box was floated in and Mark O’Donnell won the header but the keeper was alert. Ladyswell continued to push on and after combining from a through ball Oisin Doyle found David Farrell who was again denied by the keeper.
-
Ladyswell continued the onslaught and it paid off after Dara Doyle found Stephen Hand in space down the left and after taking on the full back Hand dispatched the ball with great aplomb into the bottom right corner. Ladyswell should have been two up shortly after Hand Combined with Moloney down the left hand side and Moloney struck with a stinging shot only to be denied again by the Dynamo keeper who had been busy in the first half.
-
The keeper was about to get busier as the home side made it two, once again Farrell and Doyle combined up top and Farrell made no mistake as he placed the ball in the corner past the keeper. With half time fast approaching David Moran in the Ladyswell goal was asked to come take a couple of catches as the away side tried to take the pressure off their goal. Despite this it was Ladyswell who would make it three before the break as Declan Burke followed up an earlier shot and buried from 20 yards leaving the keeper with to much to do.
-
The second half once again seen Ladyswell take the ascendancy and once again the away keeper was being his busy self and denied Oisin Doyle, brother Dara and also stopped Sam Nevin from getting his first goal of the season. The second half would also see Ladyswell take the foot off the gas and play the ball around quite well as the three points were secured.
-
The second half also seen captain McEntaggart replaced by Alan Devlin as a pre-caution due to his recent foot injury and also seen Stephen Hand replaced by Stephen Mooney also as a pre-caution . Samuel Nevin would also be replaced with Thomas Hand coming on.
-
Thomas Hand was straight into the action after a great ball up the wing by John Walsh seen him twist and turned the left back and pulled a great ball back to David Farrell who was unlucky not to take his tally to two for the day. The game slightly petered out as Ladyswell took the foot off the gas and the six changes between both sides seen the game end without the away side really having tested the Ladyswell keeper.
