Ladyswell Saturday got off to a great start in the Jubilee Cup despite being without Captain Colm Ennis who is injured as well as Kevin Cox and Stephen Coates who were missing. Ladyswell started brightly and took the lead through a header from the returning Stephen Keenan.

Ladyswell were dealt a big blow shortly after the goal when star striker Shane Smith limped off with an injury. Smith was devastated as this was the first time he had played against his previous team mates. In Smith's departure the goal scoring was handed over his team mates who duly obliged.

Keith Clarke got a brace whilst Smith's replacement Paul O'Riely also getting a goal. Ladyswell would also be tested at the back but stand in Captain Dermot Ennis and goalkeeper Ricky Egan were equal to the task.

Midway through the second half Finglas created another chance but once again Egan was up to the challenge Ladyswell seemed hppy with the result and had slightly stood off but were soon awake when Finglas broke free, Egan cleared his lines but a second ball was not cleared and the ball was put in the net past Egan who was scrambling back.

Finglas created a further number of chances late on but Ladyswell held out for a good victory.

Laurel Lodge 2 v 1 Woods Fc

Laurel Lodge and Woods faced each other in the only game in group B Laurel Lodge had taken the lead early and had extended the lead to two. Woods Fc began pushing and were putting Laurel Lodge under pressure. With the game running into the last 15 minutes Laurel Lodge pushed by Woods began to get nervy and Woods got a well worked goal in the last 10 minutes and made the last 10 minutes exciting but Woods just could not break through a tight Laurel Lodge defence.

Cabra Celtic 3 v 1 Smithfield
In the other game in group A Cabra Celtic joined Ladyswell on three points with a three one win over a fancied Smithfield side.
